Philadelphia, PA – May 17, 2024 – ITAVFoundation is excited to announce Maternal Support and Education Day, an empowering event dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by expectant individuals and veteran parents, particularly within marginalized communities, including black, LGBTQ+, and immigrant populations. The event is set to take place on July 20, 2024, at the MQ Factory – Ricky Codio Studio located in Manayunk, 126 Leverington Ave, Philadelphia PA 19127, from 12pm-5pm.

“It Takes A Village” means everything to Trudean Haye, Founder & CEO of ITAVFoundation. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “When I started ITAVFoundation, my goal was to bring a piece of Jamaica, my home country, with me everywhere I go. A Village is a place where, no matter the circumstances, support is always available. As an immigrant and a Black woman, I’ve faced many challenges, including healthcare disparities when I became a mother. Fortunately, I knew how to advocate for myself, but many individuals aren’t as fortunate. That’s why Maternal Support and Education isn’t just a cause; it’s deeply personal to me.”

Maternal Support and Education Day aims to provide comprehensive support, resources, and education to expectant individuals, with a strong emphasis on black, LGBTQ+, and immigrant maternal wellness. The event will feature informative workshops, a community baby shower, and the distribution of free diapers, wipes, and postpartum care packages.

“Our primary objectives for Maternal Support and Education Day are threefold,” said Trudean Haye. “We aim to educate and empower expectant individuals, support local birthworkers and minority birthing centers, and promote community pampering and self-love during this transformative time in their lives.”
