FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: In Loving Memory of Rasheena Phinisee

On behalf of ITAVFoundation, The Byrd Cancer Advocacy & Education Foundation, and the Ricky Codio Foundation, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Rasheena Phinisee. Rasheena was a radiant force in our community—a tireless advocate and a loving mother who touched countless lives through her work and her spirit.

Diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer in January 2022, Rasheena faced her illness with remarkable strength and dedication, never losing sight of her commitment to her family and the causes she championed. On August 26, 2024, we lost a true inspiration.

Rasheena not only dedicated her life to her girls but also founded Assiah’s Liver Fund, a nonprofit advocating for organ donation and transplantation awareness in communities of color. This fund reflected her deep commitment to helping others, even during her own battle with breast cancer.

To honor Rasheena’s life and legacy, we invite all who knew Rasheena, and those who were touched by her work, to contribute and help us ensure that her legacy lives on.

Please keep Rasheena’s daughters, community and families in your thoughts during this difficult time. Your support in honoring her memory is deeply appreciated.
